Deidre DeGrado is a wife, mother, and Certified Professional Midwife. She is happily married to her husband, Jerry, who is a chiropractor with more than thirty years of experience. Deidre and Jerry have several children ranging between the ages of eleven to thirty-two. Deidre confidently states, “Being a wife and mother is who I am; As a child, I was enamored with babies and moms. Thankfully, the Lord gave me children whom I love and enjoy so much.” With children of her own, she has delivered at home, the hospital, and at a birth care center. Personally, Deidre loves her water birth experiences. Her two youngest children were born at home with water births.
Deidre is a midwife simply because it is what God has “called” her to do. Her natural birth philosophy was initially formed after the tragic birth of her nephew that resulted in the loss of her only sister in 1991. Deidre began her training and education in midwifery in 1994, has attended nearly 1000 births, and has been in primary practice for nineteen years. The Midwifery Model of Care, as defined by MANA, is the philosophy she has adhered to in her many years of practice, which affirms that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. Specifically, the miraculous way God creates new life and grows families. Deidre feels beyond blessed to have the opportunity to work with women and babies. Her calling to serve as a midwife demands a deep dependence on the Lord. She prays and hopes couples will seek and trust God as they plan and prepare for the birth of their baby. Deidre is happy to serve couples in the location of their choice in the Wichita-metro area or anywhere within a sixty mile radius. "Commit everything you do to the LORD.
