Thank you, Sharon, for everything you did for me during the delivery of my son, Andrew. His natural birth was everything I wanted it to be. Your encouragement and support throughout the process is what pushed me forward. I only wish I had the same experience with my daughters. Thank you for your knowledge. Thank you for your time. Thank you for helping me achieve a natural birth. I wish everyone could have a midwife like you.

Deidre and I have been together through 8 very different, very amazing births. Each one of our babies has had Such a different story, but in each and every journey I have been brought through with such care, prayer, and encouragement, I would not trade one moment of the labor for all of its rich rewards. My husband has been allowed to be such an active part of each birth, I really felt like we were all working together towards one incredible goal: bringing new life into the world. I am so glad my babies have had such a peaceful, loving entrance, even if not always easy for myself :) The recovery every time has been fast and complete, and in the end we have brought something Eternal into the world. I have loved my home birth experiences!

These ladies are the best! I had a bad experience at a hospital with my first child. This time around, I experienced prenatal care that was informative, nonjudgemental and supportive. Our birth was natural and 100% of what we wanted! I cannot say enough good things about everyone who helped make our birth exactly what we wanted it to be. We will definitely be going back to them for our next child. Thanks ladies!

Deidre and her team are encouraging, realistic, truthful, knowledgeable, and skilled. I felt emotionally and physically safe for both me and my baby as we did the pre-natal checks and went through the birth. I have no doubt we will use the clinic again for our next child... Though with this one being only 6 weeks, hopefully we won't be needing her skills *too* soon!!!

I will start with the most important part of the review, the part that you will see first: I can NOT recommend Cynthia's services enough!
I will also take this opportunity to dispel a myth: that only women who plan on a home birth, or a natural birth, would benefit from hiring a doula. The fact is, EVERY woman, no matter how she chooses to give birth, should be given the gift of a doula to make it a special experience! Not all doulas are created equal; while I don't have experience with others to compare, I will say with certainty that she is the best!
When aiming for a hospital birth, it's important to have an advocate that "knows the ropes"; depending on your provider, it can be easy to get pulled into the cycle of unnecessary tests, treatments, and general fear associated with birth. Cynthia's knowledge is above and beyond and is so helpful when it comes to navigating your birth preferences!
During labor, Cynthia came to my home and helped me labor until it was time to go to the hospital. At home and at the hospital, she helped me find positions of comfort, reminded me to walk, encouraged me to eat and drink...and when my husband started getting more and more concerned (I had been in labor and pushing for a very long time; in their attempt to give me a natural birth, they were trying very hard to not intervene), she shared her concerns and made him feel more comfortable about voicing his concerns to the care team, which got the ball rolling to get my baby out quickly and safely.
My husband is a physician, and he was absolutely blown away by Cynthia as well! I think he had this idea that a doula would have unrealistic expectations of birth ("natural birth at any cost"...some doulas think that way!) and he was so impressed with her medical knowledge and her down-to-earth approach. He was also thankful to not be my sole support person, and to those of you trying to decide whether a doula is right for you, I urge you to consider it from the support person's perspective: it's tough to coach a sport you've never played, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed when you're emotionally attached to a person going though something as tough (and wonderful!!!) as labor...give them, as well as yourself, the support you need of an objective, clear-minded third party that can help you have the birth you really want! Thanks to Cynthia, I truly only have positive memories of my birthing experience!!!

What an amazing experience we had with these wonderful ladies!! SO much better than my first birth at a hospital. Deidre, Cynthia, and Jessica are absolutely wonderful! They are so supportive and encouraging but also hold you accountable to make sure you're staying healthy. They spent time with me and taught me how to keep my pregnancy low risk so I could have the birth I wanted. My birth experience was beautiful and empowering. We will definitely be coming back for future babies! Thank you so much!!

Sharon, thank you for the excellent care you provided for me and baby. We felt blessed to have you as our nurse midwife and for all of your support, encouragement, knowledge, and patience during my pregnancy and during my labor and delivery. We were blessed to have you as our nurse midwife and were grateful for your support during our long labor.
-Megan
Love these two women. They helped deliver all 3 of my kids and I wouldn't trade those memories of them encouraging me through my pregnancy and helping me push through the walls of fear before delivery. God has given them a passion for women and babies and I am so thankful I found them when did!

Sharon, thank you for attending my labor and delivery, I believe God knew I needed you to care for me and my baby girl. and I can’t begin to express my gratitude for seeing me through 36 long hours and believing in me when everyone else was ready to give up. After I had my son via emergency E Section I felt like a failure, and I was very certain that, if it happened again, we would not have any more children. You gave me so much more than just a healthy baby girl – you gave me peace and confidence that everything would be fine. Your gave me confidence in myself, a successful VBAC, a record that shows I can have my own babies given enough time and despite my scar, and because of you we will be having more children. I am indebted to you for what you have done for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless - Kristy
My last 3 babies (of 5) have been born under the care of Deidre and Cynthia and they are wonderful! My first 2 were born in hospital settings, and though they were good experiences, they were certainly lacking in peace and love. My husband and I decided to make the leap to an out of hospital birth and were given Deidre's name. She helped to assure my uncertain husband that baby and I would be safe and we went forward with care. Now I could never return to a hospital birth (barring absolute necessity, of course) and my births have been the births I envisioned from the beginning. Deidre and Cynthia are an amazing team...they are caring, compassionate and so knowledgeable in the beautiful art of bringing babies into this world.

I could not have gave birth naturally without the wonderful support of Cynthia. I got exactly the birth I wanted. I had a lot of fear going into this birth because I was a VBAC. I'm so thankful and blessed to have come across Wichita Birth Assistance. Having a doula is worth EVERY penny!
